Unleashed & Unchained

Unleashed. Unbound. Untethered. Free.

The chain will break, a chain you  imagined, a chain you restricted yourself with,

This impediment to your liberty was self-imposed; Enraptured, you hath planted this tree,

To what end? You came to realize, in what angst-driven phase of longing did you shackle yourself to this monolith!

In a moment of clarity, you comprehend that the chain is breaking,

It is but a matter of time when it stops dragging you down,

It is time to stop your fingers from waiting to reply, to call back: From aching,

For you had set yourself up, You thought you did not, but you did; You set yourself up to drown;

You always wanted it. You always knew this was the only way to get yourself back,

Yet you lacked the strength, only to realize that conviction shall only cut conviction,

Your destiny is yours; Not ruled by another, not decided by foretellings and the Zodiac!

This constriction, restriction and infliction must be subjected to an eviction. You need to put an end to this addiction.

One day you wake up and you do not feel like you used to,

You still feel, but not like how you used to; It is the same but altogether different,

You do not browse pictures and texts, you do not lament and let the pain accrue,

This is different, this is new. You are yourself again, Your heartbeat is a crescendo: Vociferant;

You catch yourself talking, pacifying your mind,

"It's okay", You say, grinning, for it actually is!

These were no empty words, this psychic bedlam has ended, It is time to reforge & to realign,

You finally have the answers, the enigma of an illusion has been broken, You answered another question of life's very own pop quiz...

Unleashed. Unbound. Untethered. Unchained.

The chain broke, a chain you had imagined, a chain you had restricted yourself with,

This reacquirement of your liberty was self-imposed; Disillusioned, you broke free: Unconstrained,

In the end, You came to realize in this bid to survive, You did more than you ordained, you freed your soul: Forthwith! 

This poem has been written in answer to a request by my dear friend Gaurav who gave me an idea and asked me to synthesize the same in poetry.
