How To Measure A Life

I measure my successes in your smiles,
I revel in the light of your eyes,
We have to go far, we have to travel miles,
In your love, my ambitions thrive;

Your presence sets my courage in bloom,
I warm myself in your fires,
You allow me to bury my fears: Erect a tomb,
Till the skies they reach, constructs of my love: Cloud-piercing spires;

We have a long way to go,
Holding your hand I let my insecurities rest,
Across the topography of your soul, my passion like a river flows,
You make me better: From my demons, my destiny I wrest;

This journey is not done yet,
In our time together, your companionship I cherish the most,
On the sharp edges of my soul, your passions I whet,
Across multiple realities, I will not let you go: I will be your ghost;

The end is always and never near,
Keeping the end at bay, we manifest our emotions in their physicality: Our isle.
I now know how to judge my own worth:
I measure my life in your smiles...
